About Sarat Book House

Sarat Book House Pvt. Ltd. was founded in 1956 by brothers Mrityunjoy De and Amar Chand De. It began as a bookstore and publisher of school textbooks, later expanding into college textbooks. Amar De, being a professor of physics at Calcutta University, attracted local college students who visited the historic first-floor store to browse and borrow books for free, as well as fellow professors who wanted to get published.

Today, Sarat Book House is a trusted name in the industry, supplying books across India from its offices in Kolkata, Delhi, and Guwahati. Our distribution network is operated as Sarat Book Distributors, and we partner with several national and foreign publishers to make their titles available in institutional libraries, research institutions and book stores in India. As of date, we have to our credit 1200+ foreign titles which are reprinted in Indian price and exclusively distributed by us across India.

Through our publishing imprint, Levant Books, we specialise in academic monographs, reference volumes, textbooks, and conference proceedings across disciplines such as Science & Technology, Humanities, Social Sciences, Management, and Education. We uphold rigorous academic standards and ensure our titles reach a global audience.

In 2005, we expanded our capabilities by adding Sarat Impressions Pvt. Ltd., a fully equipped in-house printing and binding unit. We now offer a complete end-to-end solution from editorial support and design to high-quality printing and binding for dissertations, journals, conference proceedings, and institutional publications.
